It All Begins With You.
Our volunteers are the heart and soul of Girl Scouting and we know that you are taking time out of your busy schedule to lend your talents to the girls who will be a part of your troop or group.
Training is just one of the many resources available to Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska volunteers. By completing required trainings, you will have the necessary tools to help girls become tomorrow’s leaders. Our courses will make your commitment as a leader easier and enable you to feel more comfortable in your position; ensuring that both you and your girls will have a rewarding and valuable experience.
Our team of nearly 55 supportive volunteer trainers enables us to offer numerous courses in a variety of locations and methods throughout the state.
Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska requires all leaders, co-leaders, and assistant leaders to complete two trainings BEFORE meeting with girls.
- Getting Started—an introduction to Girl Scouts and Girl Scout resources.
- Age Level Leader Training—a course on the specific Girl Scout age level in which you will be working.
Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska offers training in three different formats. Choose the one that works for you or mix and match them.
- In-person classroom training—This remains the best option for new or bridging leaders. In-person training, allows volunteers to receive personal contact with a Girl Scout trainer and the opportunity to meet other leaders. Our training and curriculum specialists are currently scheduling for the 2008/2009 membership year. Please check back after August 31st for a list of locations and dates.
- Take-home training —A great alternative when your busy schedule (or distance) keeps you from attending an in-person training. By contacting a training and curriculum specialist, they can mail a self study directly to you, and you can get started!
- Online training—A great option for those of you who would have to travel to attend an in-person training or those who simply can’t make it to a scheduled session. This option allows you to complete training quickly in order to get your troop up and going. You simply set up an account and go!
To register via email, please send your full name, address, phone number and the names & dates of the classes you’d like to attend to Trish at pstreur@girlscoutsnebraska.org.
