“Girls Can Golf!” is a Hole-in-One!

This year, our council theme is The Best Me: Mind, Body, Soul. One way you can be the best YOU is by discovering ways to stay active that you enjoy. Omaha Girl Scout and Gold Award recipient Hannah Wilcox turned her passion for her favorite sport into a community service project that is helping area girls find their “Best Me” on the links.

Hannah loves to golf and was a member of her high school’s team. Her love of the game inspired her to create a community service project that is all about girls getting exposure to golf.

Hannah’s Gold Award project, Girls Can Golf!, was a two-day free golf clinic for girls ages 8-15. Hannah planned and facilitated the clinic, which took place at Miracle Hills Golf and Tennis Center. Girls who attended the clinic learned the rules of the game and proper golf etiquette. They took part in drills and receive one-on-one instruction.

Hannah is the daughter of Chris and Jodie Wilcox. Her Troop Advisor was Cindy Miller and her Project Advisor was Barry Glanzer of Westside Middle/High School.

P.S. If you love golf like Hannah, consider joining us for the All “Fore” the Girl Scouts! a charity golf tournament Friday, August 22 at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus. It will be a fun day of scramble-best-ball golf and all proceeds benefit Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska.
