Last year, our council-wide theme was Finding Your Voice: The Power of Media. We encouraged girls to examine media in all forms and identify positive and negative messaging and their effects. From everything we saw and heard, girls were empowered and we could tell that more and more of our members did indeed FIND THEIR VOICE!
A new Girl Scout year is upon us and it brings a LOT of excitement and a new council theme – The Best Me: Mind, Body, Soul. Research demonstrates that girls become better students, friends and leaders when they nurture themselves from the inside out by taking care of their health and wellness. We have developed programming for the upcoming year to help girls become their best selves and we are asking everyone to join us on this journey into wellness. You will improve your “self” and be a good role model for your girls, too!
Your 2014-15 Annual Program Book will be delivered to your home in August and it is filled with exciting programs that explore the theme, The Best Me: Mind, Body, Soul. We are kicking it all off with statewide events on Saturday, September 27. Meet other Girl Scouts and begin your trek to the best YOU. You’ll meet experts in health and wellness and enjoy fun activities geared towards better living. Also, look for a new Program on Demand related to the theme and browse through the Program Book for wellness tips from girls, volunteers and staff.
So… ready to get started? How will you be “The Best Me” in 2015? Like us on Facebook and share your tips for staying healthy and living a well balanced life. We want to hear from you!
