This year, dedicated Girl Scout volunteers empowered more than 16,000 Nebraska girls to build courage, confidence and character. That’s why Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska recently honored those who went above and beyond at award ceremonies across the state.
“Through their work, volunteers provide a caring, supportive environment for girls to learn about themselves, what issues are important to them and how they can make a difference in the world,” said Fran Marshall, Chief Executive Officer, Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska.
Girl Scout volunteers provide girls a place of their own to try new things and improve their communities – yet volunteers often underestimate the impact they have on the lives of girls, according to Marshall.
“Often our volunteers shy away from the spotlight,” Marshall said. “Our volunteer award ceremonies are our opportunity to recognize and thank them for the leadership they provide and their commitment to our girls.”
The annual awards process begins in late spring, when peers, friends, family and council staff nominate volunteers for their achievements and contributions to the girls they serve.
