The entire membership and staff of Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska wish to express their deepest, heartfelt condolences to the families, fellow scouts and everyone who is a part of the Boy Scouts Mid - America Council, following the tragedy in Little Sioux this month.

We are humbled by, and immensely proud of the courage that these young men demonstrated under the most extreme conditions. It is a testament to the Boy Scout mission that they would embody the very principles they are learning while participating in scouting.

Because Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts were founded on similar ideals, we stand united in our foundation of community, faith and commitment to supporting young people as they become tomorrow’s leaders.  It is during times of crisis that the solidarity of our organizations grows increasingly strong.   

Our members have expressed a strong desire to contribute in some way to the recovery of the Mid-America Council and to the families affected by this tragedy.  In keeping with the Boy Scouts’ wishes, we are working with them to ensure that whatever we do, it is with their blessing and will contribute in a meaningful way.
