How it Works

Reaching Out to a Statewide Community

The Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska Community Outreach program provides volunteer-facilitated, girl-led experiences in after-school settings, detention centers, community centers, group homes and various other community sites.

Girl Scouts Community Outreach in Nebraska began in Omaha in the 1990s, and in 2008, expanded into Lincoln. Since that time, we have grown into communities in the central and northeastern areas of the state. The majority of our programming is facilitated during the normal school year in after-school settings, but during the summer, we provide opportunities for girls to participate in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience  through our “My Summer Place” all-day day camp programs in Omaha, Migrant Summer School activities, at recreation centers and at our camp properties.
