Even though it’s the middle of summer, it’s time to turn your attention to fall and your next fun-filled Girl Scout year. We’re super excited about our new program theme, Our Earth, Our Future, and we’re thrilled to announce a new program-registration process that will give everyone access at the same time.
Because we can’t control the United States Postal Service, we can’t control when you get your Annual Program Book. Some girls may receive theirs on July 8. Others may be checking their mailboxes in vain for a couple of weeks, anxiously waiting for their book to arrive. In past years, as soon as your program book arrived, you could start signing up for programs.
To be fair to all members, online registration will open to everyone on July 31 (at 12:01 a.m. ET). This allows you to receive your Annual Program Book, review all the wonderful programs, connect with your girls, and thoughtfully plan your year. You don’t have to worry that a program will be full before you even know about it!
So, how do you get ready for July 31?
First and foremost, be prepared to register online for your favorite programs. Online registration is easy and instantly secures your program spot.
- Check your program registration site login and password now to make sure they work. Please note that your program registration site account is completely separate from MY GS, where you renew memberships and access the VTK.
- If you need help accessing your account, contact Member Support for help now. Don’t wait until July 31 – the team will be very busy that day! You can reach Member Support by email or at 800.695.6690.
- Next, check your troop roster in the program registration site to ensure all your members are listed. If a girl is missing, contact Member Support by email or at 800.695.6690 to get her added.
Next, spend some time reading the Annual Program Book. Remember, Girl Scouts is girl-led, so find out what your troop wants to do next year. If you don’t meet during the summer, call a quick planning meeting or send a group text or email to get input from your members!
Quick note…you won’t see our summer camp programs in the Annual Program Book. They will be announced in the Girl’s Guide to Summer Fun, which will be mailed to you in December (a full month earlier than in the past).
You don’t have to attend programs with your troop. Attending a council-sponsored program on your own is a great way to pursue your interests, take on a new challenge, and make new Girl Scout friends.
Then, beginning July 31, hop online and register for your favorite programs. Member Support will be available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (CT) to help you register. If you need assistance, you only need to contact Member Support once to get into their queue. Please don’t call and email your inquiry; nor do you need to call multiple times. Messages (email and voicemail) will be returned in the order in which they are received.
To use Cookie Dough, Nut Bucks, or program credits, you must register for programs on paper. To secure a spot in a popular program, like those at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, we recommend you register online and save your credits for another program.
Paper registrations – mailed, dropped off, or called in– will be manually entered into the registration system in the order in which they are received, beginning on July 31 during regular business hours. Again, for ease of registration and to secure your program spot, we highly recommend using the online registration method.
As you prepare to register for programs, we also encourage you to respect The Girl Scout Law. Be considerate and caring of other girls and troops. Only reserve program spaces that you will use. Most programs will not fill up immediately, and there are more than 200 programs to choose from!
So, run to your mailbox, or check out the online version of the Annual Program Book, and get ready for another
year of great Girl Scout adventures.
