About Us

Girl Scouts of the USA is 2.5 million strong—1.7 million girls and 750,000 adult volunteers who believe girls can change the world. It all began more than 100 years ago with one woman, our founder Juliette Gordon “Daisy” Low, who believed in the power of every girl. Juliette organized the first Girl Scout troop on March 12, 1912, in Savannah, Georgia, and we continue to make her vision a reality, helping girls discover their strengths, passions and talents.

We are the preeminent leadership development organization for girls, and we provide abundant opportunities for every girl to do something and be someone amazing!

Our Council

Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska is the largest girl-serving organization in the state with about 13,700 members.

We have six service centers, six camps and one outdoor education facility, and span more than 77,300 square miles across 92 Nebraska counties and Carter Lake, Iowa.

Our organization is, and has always been, grounded in the Girl Scout Promise and Law. With the support of committed adult volunteers, activities are girl led so that each girl’s leadership potential can bloom.

We welcome all girls!

Our Mission

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.
