Eugene’s Adventure Course is an exhilarating outdoor attraction at Camp Catron where Girl Scouts and the public can test their bravery and skills among the treetops.

The adventure course takes you to heights of about 35-feet and features 16 elements suspended along two levels—including rope bridges, swinging logs, angled pipes, a cat walk, and more. Get ready to enjoy the forest view as you face your fears, sharpen your focus, grow your confidence, and strengthen bonds with your friends and teammates!

The course is named for the late Girl Scout benefactor and outdoor enthusiast, Eugene Catron, brother of Robert Catron. Be like Eugene and make happy memories in nature as you boldly step into new adventures!

Depending on group size and timing, we may only complete one of the course levels. We will work with your group to decide which activities to prioritize during the session. We can accommodate up to 20 participants on the course at a time.

Camp Crossed Arrows is home to Nebraska’s first zip line tour! Open to the public, the five-station Soaring Hawk zips riders across prairies and through the woods. Zip lines are gaining in popularity in the United States after thrilling travelers for years in far-flung vacation spots—and Girl Scouts is excited to offer the Soaring Hawk to our members and thrill-seekers from across the region!

Not sure how it works? Riders are connected to a cable by a harness, which zips from one station to the next. Each run differs in height and length, providing riders a variety of thrills and views. Together, all the zip lines total about 1,950 feet. With walks in between zip line stations, total tour distance is about 3,590 feet.

Riders should plan for 2–3 hours to complete the tour, depending on group size. Groups may include a maximum of 15 people. For safety reasons, riders must be at least 10 years old and weigh between 65–275 pounds.

Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that our camps and properties reside on the past, present, and future homelands of the Pawnee, Ponca, Oto-Missouria, Omaha, Dakota, Lakota, Arapaho, Cheyenne, and Kaw Peoples, as well as the relocated Ho Chunk (Winnebago), Iowa, Sac, and Fox peoples.

This knowledge allows us to better understand that our opportunity to impact the State of Nebraska and beyond and occupy these lands is a result of a history of Native and Indigenous peoples’ experience of displacement, violence, settlement, and survival—which continues to inform our present and future.
