The Pat Meyer Gold Award Girl Scout of Distinction honors Gold Award Girl Scouts whose final Take Action projects demonstrate extraordinary leadership, address a local challenge that relates to a national and/or global issue and has a measureable and sustainable impact. Girls who have completed their Gold Award between January and December 31 of each year will receive an application and must apply to be considered.
Each honoree will receive a $500 scholarship, a lifetime Girl Scout membership, a commemorative plaque, and recognition at the council's Annual Meeting. Honorees are required to be present at the Annual Meeting, either in person or virtually. Additionally, honorees may be invited to speak at functions or to other Girl Scouts about their project and experiences.

Who may apply for the Pat Meyer Gold Award Girl Scout of Distinction Award?
Any Spirit of Nebraska Girl Scout who has completed an approved Girl Scout Gold Award Take Action project between January 1 and December 31 of the previous year is encouraged to apply.
What is the application process?
If the application has not been already sent to you upon you final Gold Award project approval, contact Member Support at 402.558.8189 or via email. All application questions must be answered completely. Each application must include a written reference from a project advisor or another adult who helped mentor the applicant during her Gold Award Take Action process and can attest to its sustainability. Relatives are NOT a valid reference.
When is the application due?
The application must be received by February 24.
How many young women will be recognized?
The number of Pat Meyer Gold Award Girl Scout of Distinction honorees will be determined by the number of Gold Award Girl Scouts for that year and the number of applicants who meet the criteria. A minimum of three recipients will be chosen.
How is the decision made and who decides?
The Gold Award Coordinator, the Spirit of Nebraska Chief Operating Officer, Gold Award Committee members, and the Pat Meyer family will select the recipients.
When will the decision be made?
The final decision will be made in March of each year. All final candidates will be notified regarding the decision by mid-March.
