You have the power to improve your community through action

Ready to help your community and earn one of the highest awards in Girl Scouting? Cadettes can team up with a small group of fellow Girl Scouts or work on their own. To earn the Silver Award, you will research an issue you care about, make a plan to address it, and then take action to improve your community.

You can become a Silver Award Girl Scout if you:

Are in sixth, seventh, or eighth grade
Are a registered Girl Scout Cadette
Have completed the Bronze Award or a Cadette Leadership Award

How to earn the Girl Scout Silver Award

Find an issue you care about.
Build your Girl Scout Silver Award team or decide to go solo.
Explore your community and think of how that issue affects your community.
Choose a Silver Award project that can lead to lasting change.
Submit the Silver Award Project Proposal.
Upon approval, make a plan and put it into motion.
Submit the Silver Award Final Report.
- The Silver Award Final Report is used to review and approve projects. Please designate one adult volunteer to be the project contact and complete the report after discussing the questions with the girls. Submit one Silver Award Final Report per project.

Hey, grownups!

When you support Girl Scouts earning their Silver Award, you’ll help them see their own power and be by their side as they make a lasting change in their community. Download this guide to get started today.

Approval and Ceremonies toggle arrow

Congratulations on completing your project and making a difference! Now it’s time to be recognized. To participate in a council Girl Award ceremony, projects must be completed and final reports submitted by March 31. If the final report is submitted after March 31, girls will be recognized at the following year’s ceremony. Girls have until September 30 of the year they bridge to Seniors to complete their Silver Award project and submit final reports.

Adult volunteers will be notified once the council has reviewed and approved the Final Report. Upon approval, Silver Award pins may be purchased at any Spirit of Nebraska Girl Scout Shop or online. Each girl will be recognized during a council ceremony in May or June with a Silver Award certificate and patch. For girls unable to attend, certificates and patches will be mailed after the final council ceremony to the adult who submitted the final report.

Silver Award Girl Scout Patch Programs

Spirit of Nebraska Silver Award Girl Scouts have created a lasting contribution to their community with these patch programs—activities designed to teach younger Girl Scouts (and sometimes others) valuable skills and knowledge while earning a special patch along the way.
