Some Girl Scout stories don't end with one generation, they grow into a legacy.
For Marisa, that legacy began with her mom, Dulcie. As a Girl Scout in the late 1970s, Dulcie learned the values of courage, confidence, and service that would guide her throughout her life. Years later, she passed those same values on by becoming a troop leader for her three daughters: Selena, Marisa, and Tanya.
Together, they experienced everything Girl Scouts has to offer; camp adventures, community service, Cookie Season, bridging ceremonies, and years of memories. Eventually, Marisa stepped into leadership herself, helping guide the next generation of Girl Scouts alongside her mom and discovering that she learned just as much from the girls as they learned from her.
Although Dulcie passed away in 2023, her impact continues to live on through the girls she inspired, the leaders she helped shape, and the family tradition she created.
"None of this would have happened without our mom. Throughout our lives, we were always taught to be kind, strong, brave, and to leave a place better than when we found it. Though our mom has passed, she continues to be proof of the Girl Scout way—making the world a better place."
That's the power of Girl Scouts. The lessons one generation learns become the legacy that inspires the next, creating a ripple effect that can last a lifetime.
100 years. Countless stories. One lasting legacy.
