Sometimes, the biggest lessons begin with a simple goal.
As a Girl Scout growing up in western Nebraska, Lynette dreamed of going to summer camp. But after her mom became a single parent, the $25 camp fee was simply out of reach.
Then she learned something that changed everything: the Girl Scout who sold the most cookies would earn a free trip to camp.
So Lynette made a plan.
She traveled to her grandparents' small town, visited their church, and sold cookies to everyone she knew. Her determination paid off—she became the top seller and earned her trip to camp.
There was just one catch...
After three days, she was so homesick she wanted to go home for the rest of the week.
Looking back, though, that experience wasn't really about camp. It was about discovering that if she wanted something badly enough, she could work for it.
That lesson stayed with her.
For more than 40 years, Lynette has built a career in sales and entrepreneurship, tracing that determination back to one ambitious Girl Scout goal.
"That started my entrepreneurial journey to realize if I wanted something, I could work to get it."
That's the power of Girl Scouts. Sometimes a cookie sale becomes much more than a fundraiser—it becomes the first step toward confidence, ambition, and a lifetime of believing in what's possible.
100 years. Countless stories. One lasting legacy.
