Some Girl Scout stories aren't about just one girl—they're about growing up together.
When Troop 20749 gathered for its first Daisy meeting in 2015, twelve kindergartners came together to earn petals, make friends, and begin their Girl Scout journey. None of them could have imagined the years ahead.
As Juniors, the COVID-19 pandemic changed everything. Instead of ending their journey, the girls found new ways to stay connected. They met weekly over Zoom, earned badges virtually, celebrated World Thinking Day online, completed their Bronze Award with The Malone Center, and eventually reunited outdoors to paint a Buddy Bench for their elementary school.
That resilience carried them into middle school, where they continued serving their community and earned their Silver Award through their work with Willie's Underwear Project.
Today, eleven years after that very first troop meeting, seven Girl Scouts remain—five of whom have been together since they were Daisies. Now Ambassadors, they're balancing busy high school schedules, serving in leadership opportunities like the Girl Scout Advisory Group (GSAG) and the Girl Scout Council, and beginning to dream about their Gold Award projects together.
"Girl Scouts has been my safe place where I am able to be myself, support my community, and learn to focus on what I value most." — Edie, Girl Scout with Troop 20749
That's the power of Girl Scouts. When girls grow up together, they gain more than badges and awards. They find lifelong friendships, discover their voices, and build the confidence to lead—in their troops, their communities, and wherever life takes them.
100 years. Countless stories. One lasting legacy.
