When Aimee arrived at Camp Catron for Mentorship Camp in 2024, she came ready to be a mentor. She expected to share what she had learned, offer encouragement, and help two Girl Scouts discover new possibilities for themselves.
What she didn't expect was just how much she would learn, too.
For three days, Aimee and her two mentees—two smart, thoughtful, and deeply kind young women—shared experiences, asked questions, faced challenges, and made memories together. They conquered fears during outdoor activities, turned to one another for advice, and encouraged each other to grow.
Aimee discovered that her mentees had just as much to teach her as she had to offer them. Their curiosity, perspective, and kindness inspired her. She also found herself building meaningful relationships with the other mentors at camp—women from communities across Nebraska who brought their own stories, experiences, and wisdom to the program.
By the end of those three days, Aimee left Camp Catron with more than memories. She left with new friendships, a renewed sense of purpose, and a deeper appreciation for the power of women supporting women. That's the power of Girl Scouts.
100 years. Countless stories. One lasting legacy.
