When Lisa first came to Girl Scouts 18 years ago, she was drawn to something she believed deeply in: making sure young people who are too often overlooked have someone who sees their potential and helps open doors for them.
That belief has shaped her entire Girl Scout journey.
From helping launch the Outreach program in Lincoln in 2008 and watching it grow across Nebraska, to helping create and grow Mentorship Camp, Lisa has spent nearly two decades working to make Girl Scout experiences more accessible and meaningful for more girls.
Through Outreach, girls who may face barriers like transportation, finances, or a lack of an available adult volunteer can find a place in Girl Scouts. Through Mentorship Camp, girls build relationships with women who listen to them, encourage them, and help them see possibilities for their futures.
From camp, travel, Highest Awards, the Girl Scout Cookie Program, and countless everyday experiences, Lisa has witnessed girls discover something powerful: that they are capable of more than they may have imagined.
“When a girl feels truly seen and supported, something inside her begins to shift. She may dream bigger. She may take a risk she would not have taken before. She may begin to believe what others already see in her.”
Now, as Chief Operating Officer of Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska, Lisa continues to help lead the mission that first called her to Girl Scouts. And after 18 years, she still sees the same thing at the heart of it all: girls need opportunities, but they also need people who believe in them enough to help create those opportunities.
That is what Girl Scouts has given Lisa the privilege to do for nearly two decades and what she hopes to continue doing for generations to come.
Because when we open doors for girls, we never know how far they will go.
100 years. Countless stories. One lasting legacy.
