For Courtney, Girl Scouts has been a constant thread through generations, friendships, and different chapters of her life.
Her Girl Scout story began in elementary school, growing up in a rural community and being raised by her dad. Her mom and grandmother were Girl Scouts, too, and Courtney quickly found her own place in the movement. She sold cookies, camped, crafted, sang songs, marched in parades, and made friendships that have lasted for decades. Today, she still gets together with those same Girl Scout friends—and now their daughters join them, too.
Years later, while living overseas with her husband and daughter, Courtney found herself experiencing Girl Scouts all over again, this time as a troop co-leader. She watched her daughter and her friends build confidence through camping, STEM, art, philanthropy, and countless adventures. One especially memorable experience was partnering with a Japanese Sister Troop, creating connections that stretched across cultures and continents.
Then Girl Scouts brought Courtney to Nebraska in a new way. While her family was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base, she found a job with Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska. Today, she gets to help girls across the state discover the same sense of belonging, friendship, and possibility that Girl Scouts gave her.
And she gets to share it with her daughter, too.
Whether they're helping teach new Girl Scouts the Promise and Law, singing songs at the Girl Scout DreamLab, or simply making memories together, Courtney and her daughter continue a family tradition that spans generations.
From her mother and grandmother, to her own Girl Scout friends, to her daughter and the next generation, Courtney's story is a beautiful reminder that Girl Scouts isn't just something you experience for a few years. It can become part of who you are and something you carry forward.
100 years. Countless stories. One lasting legacy.
