Sometimes, the most meaningful Girl Scout stories begin with a simple question: “What did you do today?”
For James, a member of the Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska Board of Directors, that question led to a story he was especially proud to hear.
After volunteering in Omaha one morning, James’ daughter, Nicole, shared that she had volunteered, too.
Nicole, owner of Siren Florals in Omaha, had spent the afternoon with Girl Scout Troop 48801, where troop leader Cassie invited her to teach the girls about flowers and the art of floral arrangement.
Nicole told her dad how engaged the girls were as they learned, created their own arrangements, and discovered the creativity that comes with working with flowers.
For James, there was something especially meaningful about hearing his daughter talk about giving her time and talents to help girls learn something new.
Like father, like daughter. Both found a way to give back through volunteering and sharing what they know with others.
And for these Girl Scouts, an afternoon of flowers became an opportunity to learn, create, try something new, and leave with something beautiful that they made themselves.
Thank you to Nicole for sharing her talents with Troop 48801, to Cassie for creating the opportunity, and to James for sharing this special story with us.
Because Girl Scouting grows through people who are willing to show up, share what they know, and help the next generation bloom.
100 years. Countless stories. One lasting legacy.
