For Emma, Girl Scouts started with a Daisy meeting led by her mom and grew into a lifelong passion—and eventually, a career.
Emma was a Girl Scout from kindergarten through 12th grade with Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana. Her mom was her troop leader when she was a Daisy and remained her troop’s cookie volunteer throughout her Girl Scout years. Today, they’re both Lifetime Members.
Her favorite part of growing up in Girl Scouts? Camp.
Emma started with day camp, then graduated to weeklong resident camp, and eventually took on two-week resident camp experiences. With every new adventure, she gained confidence, developed her leadership skills, and discovered new ways she could make a difference in her community.
After college, Emma knew she wanted to work somewhere where she could make a difference.
Girl Scouts felt like the perfect place.
Today, Emma is part of the Program team at Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska, helping create the kinds of experiences that shaped her own childhood. One of her favorite parts of the job is getting to watch the girls she works with grow in confidence and make a difference in their own communities.
And the adventures haven’t stopped. Her Girl Scout journey has taken her from summer camp to international experiences in Paris and Quebec City; and now to helping create meaningful experiences for the next generation of Girl Scouts right here in Nebraska.
What started with a little Daisy and her Girl Scout leader mom has become a lifelong connection to an organization that helped Emma discover who she could become.
And now, she gets to help girls discover it for themselves.
100 years. Countless stories. One lasting legacy.
