Sometimes, a Girl Scout connection can stay with you long after your own Girl Scout years are over.
For Megan, her Girl Scout experience was meaningful enough that she knew she wanted to help make those same opportunities possible for girls today.
As an adult, she found her way back to the organization when Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska CEO Sarah Waldman invited her to join the Board of Directors.
It was a full-circle moment.
Megan remembers a cabinmate from her Girl Scout years who faithfully counted her laps during a swimming activity. Years later, Sarah became another meaningful Girl Scout connection—one that brought Megan back to the organization and inspired her to stay involved.
Today, Megan serves on the Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska Board of Directors, helping support the organization and the girls it serves.
She also understands something every Girl Scout community knows well: Girl Scouting is made possible by people who choose to show up. From troop leaders and volunteers to board members and community supporters, each person plays a part in creating opportunities for girls to grow, discover, and lead.
Megan’s story is a reminder that your Girl Scout journey doesn't necessarily end when you leave your troop. Sometimes, it simply changes chapters.
And sometimes, a meaningful connection years ago can lead you right back home.
100 years. Countless stories. One lasting legacy.
