For more than a decade, Troop 20372 in Adams, Nebraska, has been a place where girls grow up together—and where the older girls get to become role models for the younger ones.
Kari has been part of the troop for 12 years, serving as a co-leader alongside Tara and Sarah. The girls from those early years have grown up and graduated. Many who have taken off to college.
And Troop 20372 is still going strong.
Today, the multi-age troop includes girls from kindergarten through high school. While keeping girls of different ages engaged can come with its challenges, Kari has seen how meaningful it is for younger girls to have older Girl Scouts to look up to and how much it takes parent involvement to keep a troop thriving.
Over the years, they’ve filled their Girl Scout memories with field trips, camping, crafting, and plenty of fun. Their latest adventure? A morning of goat yoga.
The girls may change, graduate, and head off into the world, but the tradition continues. New Girl Scouts step into the troop, find their place, make memories, and eventually become the role models for the girls coming next.
That’s the kind of legacy that keeps a troop going.
100 years. Countless stories. One lasting legacy.
