For Emilee, Girl Scouts has been part of her life in more ways than she ever expected.
She was a Brownie in Anchorage and a Junior Girl Scout in Omaha. Years later, when her daughter joined Girl Scouts in kindergarten, a friend asked Emilee to help lead the troop. She said yes and she’s been a co-leader ever since.
Now those Brownies are seventh graders.
Emilee has watched her daughter experience horse camp, camping at Camp Catron, Girl Scout Cookie sales, trips to Kansas City and New York City, GSAG, Mess-O-Rama Camp, an overnight at the Omaha Zoo, and so much more.
One of her proudest moments came when the girls earned their Bronze Awards. Passionate about animals and animal welfare, they raised awareness about a local Trap-Neuter-Return program and partnered with the Beatrice Humane Society. Their work helped seven cats in their community get TNR’d.
And somewhere along the way, Emilee realized she wanted to help create these experiences for girls every day.
In 2022, she joined Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska as a Program Specialist. Today, she gets to combine her love of Girl Scouts with her love of travel and working with girls. She’s taken Girl Scouts to Paris, Quebec, New York City, Kansas City, and Seattle; experiencing new places, foods and cultures alongside them.
Her favorite part of the job might be GSAG, where she gets to hear older Girl Scouts’ ideas, support their leadership, and help turn those ideas into action.
Emilee gets to experience Girl Scouts from just about every angle: former Girl Scout, mom, troop co-leader, and staff member.
She gets to help create the experiences that once meant so much to her—and now mean so much to her daughter.
“I think I have the most fun job in the world!” We think she might be onto something.
100 years. Countless stories. One lasting legacy.
