Jamille’s Girl Scout story began in first grade, alongside her best friends from the neighborhood. As Brownies in a troop of more than 20 girls, they gathered at their elementary school, made memories at Camp Maha, and even braved blizzard conditions to sell cookies!
As she grew older, Jamille set her sights on earning the Girl Scout Gold Award. Even as friends moved on, she stayed committed to that goal. With support from her mom and friends, she organized a project to provide warm hats and mittens for people experiencing homelessness and create clothing for teddy bears being auctioned to benefit a nonprofit. Earning her Gold Award remains an accomplishment she's incredibly proud of today.
Her connection to Girl Scouts didn't end there. In college, Jamille returned as a troop leader, working with a wonderful group of girls. She later shared her story as a guest speaker at the Highest Awards Ceremony and reflected on the impact Girl Scouts had made on her life.
Today, that legacy continues through her family. Jamille's sister, Alisha, has spent more than 12 years serving Girl Scouts in Nebraska, and Jamille's two nieces are making Girl Scout memories of their own. From helping with activities to cheering on her nieces during Girl Scout Cookie season, Jamille still finds ways to give back.
She may have completed her own Girl Scout journey, but she gets to watch the next generation discover the friendships, confidence, and opportunities that made her experience so meaningful.
Sometimes, a Girl Scout legacy isn't just about the memories we make. It's about the memories we help the next generation create.
100 years. Countless stories. One lasting legacy.
