When Demi joined Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska in 2019, she found an organization rooted in courage, confidence, and character. In 2023, she expanded her role to include a focus on belonging, helping ensure those values were reflected in every girl's experience.
For Demi, belonging isn't a single program or initiative. It's a mindset. It's asking who isn't in the room, whose voices haven't been heard, and what Girl Scouts can do to make every girl, volunteer, family, staff member, and community partner feel genuinely welcomed and valued.
That belief has guided everything from working with Native and Indigenous communities to thoughtfully rename camp spaces, to expanding LGBTQIA+ inclusion efforts, celebrating cultures from around the world, and creating opportunities for civic engagement and community dialogue. While each project looked different, they all shared the same purpose: helping more people see that there is a place for them in Girl Scouts.
"My goal has always been to create a Girl Scout experience where every person can see themselves."
That's the power of Girl Scouts. When people know they are seen, valued, and welcome exactly as they are, they gain the confidence to grow, lead, and help others feel that same sense of belonging.
100 years. Countless stories. One lasting legacy.
