Hebron, Nebraska, proudly holds the title of the "Nebraska Porch Swing Capital”. This iconic landmark is now featured on a new mural that brings Hebron’s rich history and local charm to life, thanks to the vision of Gold Award Girl Scout Isabella.
The vibrant mural spells out "H-E-B-R-O-N" in large letters. Each letter is filled with local landmarks, historic tributes, and the town's patriotic spirit. The muralist, Jamie Luttrell, carefully crafted each letter to represent Hebron’s identity. From the Little Blue River to the fireworks show, the mural showcases everything that makes Hebron unique.
Isabella was the driving force behind this project. Her love for painting and desire to beautify her town led her to approach Luttrell and the city of Hebron with her idea for the mural.
Working alongside Luttrell and her daughter Dayci, Isabella helped paint the mural. This incredible project earned her the prestigious Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting.
The mural is a part of a broader effort to revitalize Hebron’s downtown area. Two condemned buildings have been replaced by a new outdoor space known as the Backyard Bricks. With volunteers of all ages, the town came together to lay bricks, plant greenery, and construct a fence which has transformed the area into a welcoming spot for community gatherings.
As Hebron continues to grow, Isabella’s contributions will forever be a part of the town’s story. Her Gold Award project not only beautified the city but also brought people together, embodying the true spirit of Girl Scouting—making the world a better place, one project at a time.
