We know that this is a challenging time for our Girl Scouts. Staying home and being away from friends are significant changes in a girl’s life that can make her feel disconnected. At Girl Scouts, we have shifted our quality programming for girls, volunteers, and families online, offering virtual programs for at-home enrichment experiences.  

Visit this page often because we will continue to add virtual badge activities, programs, and resources for girls and families. These are all available to all girls—no Girl Scout membership necessary.

V.I.P. Programs

Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska is pleased to offer a new type of Girl Scouts at Home program: V.I.P. (Virtual Interactive POWER) Programs. V.I.P. programs offer a more in-depth and personalized hands-on experience for girls and are led by our Spirit of Nebraska program team staff. These programs include virtual camps, badge workshops, Journeys, Award workshops, Program Aide Learning Sessions, and more. Registration is required for V.I.P. programs. Most are free and open to members and non-members alike, but some may include a materials costs and some may be exclusive to members.

Girl Scouts of the USA’s Girl Scouts at Home Programming

Girl Scouts of the USA is hosting live, virtual events in four categories:  Awesome Girls (programs for girls), Raising Awesome Girls (for parents and caregivers), Tips for Troop Leaders - LIVE (for volunteers) and Campfire Chats (for alum and interested adults).  Check out the Virtual Events Calendar to see what’s coming up and to access recordings of past events.

You can also use these self-guided, free activities  to keep your girl, your troop, and your community connected.

The new Keep Girl Scouts Going: A Guide for Troop Parents and Caregivers will empower you and your girl to shine outsider her regular troop setting. Maintaining her connection to Girl Scouts can bring her a sense of normalcy and security when much of her world seems uncertain. The guide will help you work with her as she tries new things, earns badges, grows her leadership skills and experiences a well-rounded Girl Scout year. Exploring Girl Scout activities at home with your girl can also give your entire family the chance to learn and grow together.

Girl Scouts have always stepped up in times of need, and our current COVID-19 crisis is no different. All across our country and our world, Girl Scouts have leapt to the aid of others by engaging in wonderful acts of service and kindness. Now your troop can get involved too!

There's a new project each month. We started with letter writing and mask making. The newest project challenges you to become citizen scientists. Your troop can contribute to important scientific research by participating in a Girl Scouts Give Back citizen science projects. We’ve partnered with SciStarter, an online citizen science community, to help get you going! Attitude of Gratitude

Explore the meaning of appreciation and giving back with our Attitude of Gratitude Patch Program. Girls will learn how to apply gratitude in their lives, pay it forward in the lives of others, and find ways to show thanks to the volunteers who make Girl Scouting awesome.!

Anyone can complete the requirements. Registered Spirit of Nebraska girl members can fill out this form to receive a FREE patch.

COVID-19 Time Capsule

We're living through history, and Natalie Long thought a "time capsule" would be an amazing way to document this experience. She created cool worksheets for her family, and they've gone viral.  Simply download the 11-page PDF, print as many copies as you need, and work with girl or troop to fill in the sheets! Early Bird Entrepreneurial Challenge

We’re sharing our First Day Early Bird Incentive, the Entrepreneurial Challenge Patch Program, with all our members now. Complete it while you’re stuck at home to get a taste of our programming for the 2020-2021 Girl Scout year. If you like the program, renew your membership on or before May 5 to get the corresponding fun patch for FREE.

Explore Your Camp Online Scavenger Hunt

During this unprecedented time, we want to ensure EVERY girl has an opportunity to earn the new Explore Your Camp patch collage. Spirit of Nebraska has developed a patch program with a fun and challenging online scavenger hunt. Scour our camp pages, camp brochure, photo galleries, and more to find the quiz answers. Upon completion of your hunt, you will be directed to Juliette’s Boutique where you may purchase your camp patch pieces. You have the option to either buy the patch pieces all at once, or purchase a wedge each time you visit one of our camps. The choice is yours!

Flat Juliette Challenge

During this time of social distancing, we want to see what you are doing! Download, color, and cut-out this Flat Juliette and take photos of her around the house doing Girl Scout activities, or whatever else you are doing at home to stay safe and healthy! Girl Scout Guide to Helping Others During the COVID-19 Pandemic

It’s in our Girl Scout DNA to help in a time of crisis. For those that are healthy and want to help others, there are multiple ways to help those in need during the novel coronavirus outbreak. But how can we do so responsibly? In some cases, you don’t even need to step outside your home to help in a meaningful way.

This guide is a starting point for how you and your family can contribute to your community, whether it’s safely helping with outbreak efforts or taking action for community betterment.

Girl Scouts Highest Awards

Girl Scout Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors—are you ready to start earning your Bronze, Silver or Gold Award? Now is a great time to work on Girl Scouting’s Highest Awards! Learn more about, download guidelines, and get started on the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards.

Our Girl Scout Gold Award Training video is a great way to start planning to Go Gold!

You troop can work together to earn the prestigious Honor Troop award and soon Individual Girl Members will be able to earn an Honor Girl Scout award.

Global Action Award and Global Action Day Patch

Girl Scouts’ Global Action Award calls girls to address the Global Goals for Sustainable Development, or SDGs for short, by discovering, connecting, and taking action in their communities and beyond. In 2020, girls will explore SDG 5 (Gender Equality) to earn their Global Action Award.

Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska also has a Global Action Day Patch Program that you can earn by participating in three of eight action days listed in the official Girl Scouts Global Action Days Toolkit

  • Code Spark – Leaders can host a free coding event
  • Boolean University – Lessons for girls to work independently on a Programmer Journey badges
  • Offline Coding Game – Free LEGO offline coding activities to practice computer science concepts without a computer
  • Carnegie Do It Yourself Science – Explore science at home with fun science experiments using everyday objects
  • NASA STEM@Home – Launch a rocket, design and build a moon habitat, race a hovercraft, and solve a puzzle
Home Sweet Home Patch Program

You may be stuck at home, but there are plenty of amazing ways to keep busy. We’re inviting all Girl Scouts to take the Home Sweet Home Challenge

Complete a minimum of 10 activities on this list to earn your Home Sweet Home patch. You can complete a combination of the activities for all ages and/or the activities for your Girl Scout level. Once you complete 10 activities, you can pre-order the patch online and have it shipped directly to you. Or purchase the patch in your local Juliette’s Boutique once it reopens.

Malta Girl Guides Quarantine Challenge

Join Girl Guides from Malta and around the world in the Quarantine Challenge! New challenges will be posted to their Facebook page every two days. Register for a chance to earn a limited edition patch and stay tuned to their page for more challenges.

Metal Health Awareness Patch Program

 

Put together by the International BiPolar Foundation, this patch program  educates girls about the brain and its influence on thoughts, feelings, and behavior. A Girl Scout activity packet creates awareness and understanding of mental health, leading to changed perceptions about seeking help.

WOW MOM! - Working Mothers Day 2020

Put yourself in your mom’s place and realize all that she does for you and your family on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis. Chances are, she keeps your household running and gets you ready to take on your day. Download the new WOW MOM! – Working Mothers Day 2020 patch program guidelines.  As you work through each of the patch steps, make notes and answer the discussion questions in a journal or notebook. Once you have completed the patch, give your mom the journal filled with your kind words of appreciation and love. And, when you finish, complete this form a to download your WOW MOM – Working Mothers Day 2020 completion certificate and virtual patch!
